IMPROVED performance in the palm of your hands
What if the latest performance enhancing drug wasn’t a drug at all? What if it was a device?
HEAT IS THE PROBLEM
Clinical research has shown that muscle performance is very temperature sensitive. During exercise the temperature in muscles rises rapidly and when it reaches a critical point (~40C) the production of ATP is inhibited resulting in muscle fatigue and ultimately muscle failure.
COOLING IS THE SOLUTION
As the muscles are cooled ATP production is restored and exercise can be continued. But how can we cool the muscles?
THE ANSWER IS IN THE PALM OF YOUR HANDS
Your hands contain special blood vessels, arterio-venous anastomoses (AVAs) which provide a direct connection between small arteries and small veins, bypassing the high resistance capillaries. An important consequence of these AVAs is that if we cool the palms of our hands that cooled blood goes directly to the heart and then is pumped throughout the body so it can provide cooling to local muscles.
INTRODUCING: THE ROCC
The ROCC provides precise cooling in the palms of your hands. It’s cold enough to extract significant heat from your body but not so cold that is causes vasoconstriction. The ROCC does not need ice, water, or an electrical outlet. It weighs about 2 kg and can run for 2+ hours on a single charge. It is the only device of its kind in the world.
